Paths of tornadoes from 1950 to 1995 are shown in below. The map (pdf) was produced at Texas Tech University's Center for Geospatial Technology, and includes data for 43,433 tornadoes. According to the information published with the map, a similar map was published in 1987 by Theodore T. Fujita which showed 23,264 tornadoes between 1930 and 1970. The map took three years to produce by hand. In comparison, the map shown here took just a few hours to generate.
