Jeg kan stadig sidde og undre mig over hvorledes et firma som Google præsterede at overhale samtlige professionelle GIS firmaer indenom og bogstavlig talt lægge verden for sine fødder. Glem alt GIS fancy og styr direkte mod målet. Vær innovativ og tænk stort men 'keep it simple'. Det ku' man lære noget af. Som GIS leverandør lytter man på sine kunder som igen er GIS eksperter, men hvad siger brugerne? De siger Google!
From time to time I still wonder in amazement how a company like Google was able to appear on the GIS stage and made all the pros look like amateurs. They litterally had the world in their hands. Forget about all the GIS fancy stuff and aim directly at the target. Be innovative and think big but at the same time 'keep it simple'. We all could learn something by thinking this way. As a GIS developer you listen to your customers who in turn too are GIS experts but what about the users? They say Google!
Google Maps is still number one. Cowen & Co., an industry analyst firm specializing in covering Web services, found Google Maps as the “de facto leader” in the online mapping solutions space. The analyst firm stated the competitors’ lack of innovation gave Google its success. They also cited Google’s Streetview and public transportation services as main reasons for success.
