Objects with geographical attributes are often complex in their structure and difficult to handle in all environments. The purpose of this Master thesis is to investigate how to update objects with geographical attributes from Web-based clients in a Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition application server, using the new framework from ESRI called ArcGIS 9.0. Since the new product ArcGIS Server has capabilities of making GIS data available through a network and also can be used for developing distributed applications, this has been the focus of the investigation.
