ESRI UC Day 3 - Building Web Application with the ArcGIS Flex API

Kun engelsk ...

Now we have seen it and now it is official. The new FLEX api is here and already we have seen a number of examples. It is now time to see how it is done.

The FLEX api sits on top og the REST api so all you can do and get from the REST end point you can use in he FLEX api. What makes FLEX different from the JS api is that you need more than Notepad to make the code. You'll need something like Flex Builder 3. What you get is however stunning. GIS was born to be presented in Flash and disappointingly it is not until now you see it done this easy.

Go to http://resources.esri.com/arcgisserver/apis/flex/ and download the API library. Pour it into Flex Builder and you are set to go. Plenty of sample code are there and the documentation is extensive. And it should be easy to debug as well - we were told.

One last comment. Flash is cross platform meaning that it is not important which browser you use it wil always work.
